Dunedin Beaches

Those who visit the small town of Dunedin will agree it leaves a large impact that, for some, has brought them here to stay. Most people who live here will tell you this waterfront city gives them many options for activities, and the award-winning beaches are some of the most beautiful beaches in the state. The beaches alone have brought many to this neighborly town where the sun only adds to the warmth felt by those who reside here and brings back those that visit year after year.

Dunedin Causeway

The closest and most convenient beach area in Dunedin is located on either side of the Dunedin Causeway. During a typical day on the causeway you will find many activities taking place and being enjoyed by those who visit here. On one side you may find fisherman wading in the shallow waters casting their lines with hopes to make a catch, where on the other side you may find sunbathers, jet skiers, and families searching for shells. Along either side of the causeway individuals may be rollerblading or taking a walk down the paved strip that allows these active individuals to safely exercise as they take advantage of the morning sunrise, the warming heat of the afternoon.

Honeymoon Island & Caladesi State Park

If you continue down the Dunedin Causeway to the end, you will find Honeymoon Island, a state park that extends into the Gulf of Mexico with many opportunities. At Honeymoon Island you can take part in all that is enjoyed during a day at the beach such as listening to the sound of the waves and breathing the sea air, or choose to view some Florida wildlife in their natural habitats as you stroll down a nature trail. At Honeymoon Island's dog beach, the even your furry family members can enjoy the sand and the surf. But, the beauty doesn't end at Honeymoon Island. You may choose to also board a ferry which will take you out to Caladesi Island State Park where there are shelters, soft white sand, crashing waves and a natural, breathtaking beauty that has won this state park numerous awards. Caladesi Island is also popular with local boaters and jet skiers who choose this island as their destination for relaxation during a day at sea.

The city of Dunedin has so much to offer its water-loving residents and visitors, and with the beaches being so close to most of the residential areas, they are conveniently accessed within minutes through walking, biking, rollerblading or a short drive. When you live in Dunedin the beach is never too far away.
